18-Year Old Alex Taylor Breaks into the 8 second Range at Rocky Mountain Race Week
TMS-sponsored Alex Taylor set a new personal record during Rocky Mountain Race Week (July 12-17) with a time of 8.997 on Day 4 of the race in Kearney, NE. Taylor, who recently turned 18, accomplished another personal goal by pulling her own chute. She placed 3rd overall in the Limited Street Race class.

Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and the U.S. Army Dragster team for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) continued their most consistent run through the NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series schedule in recent memory by marching all the way to the Top Fuel final Sunday at the 36th annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in the Denver suburb of Morrison, Colorado. The eight-time and defending world champion fell just one-thousandth of a second shy of winning back-to-back event titles for the 50th time in his illustrious career after his emotional win two weekends ago on the outskirts of Chicago. Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, luck – and caution flags – weren’t on Hendrick Motorsports’ side.Through it all, Jimmie Johnson was able to take home a top-15 finish, taking the checkered flag in 15th. Just behind him was Chase Elliott, who earned his third top-20 result in his fourth career Sprint Cup Series start, finishing 18th.Dale Earnhardt Jr., who was involved in a late-race incident but was able to stay on the lead lap, finished 22nd. Kasey Kahne was the next of the Hendrick Motorsports teammates to cross the finish line in 24th. Jeff Gordon, competing in his final Brickyard 400, was caught up in an incident on Lap 50 and ultimately finished 42nd. Read more.

John Force and the Blue Def Peak Chevrolet Camaro SS raced to their fourth final of the season and came up a few thousandths of a second from winning for the third time in 2015. The six-time Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals winner was vying for his seventh win at Bandimere Speedway against Jack Beckman but he lost a close final round 4.291 seconds to 4.19 seconds. Read more.

Alexis DeJoria, driver of the Patrón XO Café Incendio Toyota Camry Funny Car,advanced to her fourth semi-final or better on the season today at Bandimere Speedway for the Mile High Nationals. DeJoria’s Camry was a top half car throughout qualifying running two solid passes on Friday to secure her position. Her best was a 4.077 second run in the second attempt at the track which would end up placing her in the seventh position on the run order. Read more.
