The final night of the inaugural Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Good Vibrations brought with it fast E.T.’s and speeds as every professional class winner posted their quickest times in the final round of eliminations to bring home an Ironman trophy. The AMSOIL Nitro Funny Cars presented by Aeromotive came down to local driver, Kris Krabill from Kent, Washington and 2014 Nitro Funny Car Champion, Jason Rupert. The duo took off from the starting line side-by-side but it would be Rupert that posted the fastest speed of the evening and took home the win. Rupert had a 5.640 second run at 258.62 mph and was just shy of breaking the IHRA world record.  Keep reading >

Don Schumacher Racing

Success continued on Sunday for Matt Hagan and the Mopar Express Lane/Rocky Boots team at the Route 66 NHRA Nationals near Chicago. Hagan, who has a category-best four wins to his credit this season, advanced to his fifth final round of the season and posted a runner-up finish to Don Schumacher Racing teammate Tommy Johnson Jr. on Sunday afternoon at Route 66 Raceway. Jeff Gordon led his teammates to the checkered flag during his last race at Kentucky Speedway. He crossed the finish line with a hard-fought seventh place, leaving him with a top-10 finish in all five races at Kentucky. Next in line was teammate Jimmie Johnson finishing ninth. After brake issues caused Dale Earnhardt Jr. to make many trips down pit road throughout the race, he ultimately raced his way to a 21st-place finish. Kasey Kahne completed the race 27th. When John Force rolled through the water box in the first round of the 18th annual Lucas Oil Rt. 66 NHRA Nationals he knew that he was racing for not just for all the Peak Anti-Freeze Chevrolet Camaro customers in attendance but also to help out his teammate and daughter Courtney Force. Force was racing Alexis DeJoria who was essentially tied with Courtney Force in the Mello Yello point standings. The 16-time champion was able to get the round win and advance to the second round at Route 66 Raceway. Keep reading >

Kalitta Motorsports

Del Worsham, driver of the DHL Toyota Camry Funny Car, earned his 500th round win earlier today as he advanced to the semi-finals of the Route 66 Nationals. Worsham again drove a consistent car throughout qualifying. Three passes down the track meant three 4.0 second runs. The Route 66 Nationals continued the pattern with late qualifying sessions and the DHL Yella Fellas used that to their advantage setting a 4.017 second pass to easily qualify among the top half of the field. His first opponent was friend and fellow California resident Robert Hight. Keep reading >
