HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A Hendrick Motorsports driver didn’t win the Sprint Cup championship in 2014, but that didn’t keep Hendrick Motorsports out of Victory Lane at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

On Saturday, Chase Elliott officially won the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series in a Chevrolet featuring a Hendrick Motorsports engine.

"It would be so cool to have the championship engines for both Cup and Nationwide,” Hendrick Motorsports Owner Rick Hendrick said at the time. “I think they're up to about 330 wins. It's unbelievable what they've accomplished. That would be another banner for the engine department if we can have both Cup and Nationwide together."

On Sunday at Homestead, that vision became a reality.

Kevin Harvick took home the win and the 2014 championship thanks in part to his Hendrick Motorsports engine.

That pushed the Hendrick Motorsports engine shop’s Cup championship total to 13 and capped off an incredible year for the department.

"I'm really proud of the engine shop this year,” Hendrick said. “All together adding Truck and Cup and Nationwide, it was 30-plus wins, which is unbelievable. Never seen a year like that. And to have [20] wins in the Cup Series is just unbelievable.”

After Harvick’s championship run to Victory Lane Sunday, Hendrick Motorsports engines have 334 wins all-time.

“I'm so proud of the hard work both in horsepower and durability,” Hendrick said. “They're the best out there. So I'm just really proud of what they've accomplished this year."
